I am a 24 yr old woman, I have 2 children of my own and 2 step-children. They are 8 months, 3yrs, 9yrs, and 17yrs old. I come from a long line of additction and alcoholism. I have seen the devastation and destruction it has left in its wake first hand. I have an father who is an alcoholic as well as his mother and so on. I want people to know that there is a place to turn to and there is help out there. I know how hard it is to deal on a daily basis with addiction. I have watched my father abuse my mother for the first 12 yrs of my life and slowly kill himself by drinking. He has gotten 2 DUI's in the last year. This last DUI was a wake up point for him. He has taken his therapy and treatment very serious and is doing better. He has been sober for two months now. He goes to court on the 14th to determine his sentence. He has hurt his family financial, emotionally, mentally, and physically. It has taken me a long time to forgive him for past and present hurts.
I want to help other people who have gone through the smae thing just as I was helped by a very wonderful man that had similar going ons.
